Competitors of all ages turn out for 5th OASI Cup Run in GozoUpdate with winners below – Sunday morning’s 5th edition of the OASI Cup Run in Gozo, got off to a great start in calm sunny weather, and with a good turn-out of competitors and spectators all hailing it another success for the organisers.

Competitors, including the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, were cheered along the way by the support of their families and friends

The OASI Cup Run events included a 10Km run, 4.5Km walk and 3 Children’s runs, all of which started from the centre of Victoria.Competitors of all ages turn out for 5th OASI Cup Run in GozoOASI held the first Cup Run in 2014 and said that it offers an opportunity for the Foundation to raise public awareness about its services in education and care.

The event promotes a healthy lifestyle, so it is a form of preventive care that motivate participants to be active and involved in physical exercise, and to stay away from drink and drugs, the Foundation said.Competitors of all ages turn out for 5th OASI Cup Run in GozoOASI Foundation is synonymous with it work in the social field dating back to 1991. Each year, hundreds of people seek the help of the OASI centre in Victoria, due to various social problems, mainly related to dependence on drink and drugs.

Trophies and medals were presented by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.

The winners of the 10KM Run were awarded as follows:

1st place Gozitan Female, number 46 Charla Pia Vella in the time of 00:45:08

1st place Gozitan Male, number 38 Matthew Xuereb in the time of 00:36:39

1st place Female number 26 Oksana Riabova in the time of 00:42:51

2nd place Female number 51 Felicienne Mercieca in the time of 00:44:16

3rd place Female number 10 Jolene Debattista in the time of 00:44:38

1st place Male, number 11 Charlton Debono in the time of 00:33:59

2nd place Male, number 16 Florian Gall in the time of 00:35:44

3rd place Male number 8 Charles Cilia in the time of 00:35:47

The winner of the children’s run were awarded as follows:

1st place fun run 12-15 years, number 9 Darren Sultana in the time of 00:03:52

2nd place fun run 12-15 years, number 2 Mark Dingli in the time of 00:04:05

3rd place fun run 12-15 years, number 7 Ryan Muscat in the time of 00:04:14

1st place fun run 8-11 years, number 6 Nathan Bonello in the time of 00:04:13

2nd place fun run 8-11 years, number 14 Lyon Falzon in the time of 00:04:15

3rd place fun run 8-11 years, number 32 Hayden Bonnici in the time of 00:04:35.

The OASI Foundation said that it would like to thank all the persons and organizations for their contribution, without which the event could not have been held: Remax Malta, Medirect Bank Ltd., Ministry for Gozo, Malta Football Association, David’s Bakery, General Soft Drinks, J&J Zammit Supplies and Buff Malta.
