Rebekah Vardy's net worth as she takes rival Coleen to court again over Wagatha costs

Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy's court battle is not over yet as the wife of football star Jamie appeals against the decision to clear Coleen’s legal team of misconduct

As she prepares to take Coleen Rooney to court again over the eye-watering Wagatha costs, Rebekah Vardy's bank balance could be set to take another hit.

Lawyers for the 43-year-old argued at a hearing in November last year that the sum of legal costs owed her rival should be reduced due to what they said was “serious misconduct” by Coleen’s legal team, who allegedly “deliberately understated” her costs.

A judge previously found that no misconduct had been committed, with Rebekah now appealing against the decision. The wife of Wayne Rooney went to war in court as Rebekah launched a libel case against the Liverpudlian following her infamous tweet. In 2019, Coleen took to social media claiming that Rebekah's Instagram account was responsible for leaking stories to the press, an allegation which she always denied.

The stars have had to dig deep as the legal bills stack up, with Coleen claiming she spent a total of £1,833,906.89 to go head-to-head with Rebekah. Jamie Carpenter KC, who represented Rebekah, claimed the astronomical cost includes a bill for one of Coleen's legal team to stay at the lavish Nobu Hotel. The bill, according to Rebekah's lawyer, included "substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges." Mr Carpenter added that Coleen's team used an unfair approach when adding up all the costs incurred during the trial.

Rebekah reportedly has a personal net worth in the region of £3million. Over time, she has dipped her toes into reality TV, making appearances on popular ITV shows I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2017 and Dancing on Ice in 2021. Rebekah finds herself outshone by her longstanding adversary Coleen, who reportedly boasts a hefty £15m fortune. She was reportedly paid £1.5m for her own appearance on I'm A Celeb last year.

After the release of the Disney documentary, Coleen Rooney : The Real Wagatha Story, Rebekah took a step back from the limelight for a while, seeking some privacy amidst the media storm. However, she soon resurfaced, offering glimpses of her lavish lifestyle through social media posts from luxury holidays in the United Arab Emirates and LA.

Mr Carpenter had accused Coleen of "deliberately deceiving" the court by underestimating the costs and time which was spent on the case. Rebekah's lawyer believed that she should not be made to pay £117,500 plus VAT for "expert fees" which was invoiced after the initial budget had been agreed in 2021.

Robin Dunne, for Rooney, said that "there has been no misconduct" and that it was "illogical to say that we misled anyone." In a ruling in October, Senior Costs Judge Andrew Gordon-Saker found "on balance and, I have to say, only just", that Mrs Rooney's legal team had not committed wrongdoing, and therefore it was "not an appropriate case" to reduce the amount of money that Mrs Vardy should pay.
