A person has died on the train tracks between Dartford and Gravesend. Emergency services were called to Stone Crossing railway station at around 12.37am on Sunday (April 6).
Southeastern soon announced that services between Dartford and Gravesend were suspended while emergency responders attended the scene. Power was cut to the line and rail replacement buses were soon in operation to serve affected journeys.
Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) had received reports of a casualty on the tracks. They were joined by paramedics and, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for BTP said: “Officers were called to Stone Crossing railway station at around 12.37am yesterday (6 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” Southeastern confirmed at 2.44am that emergency services were clear of the line and that trains would operate as normal when services restarted on Sunday morning.
