RIBAJ Eye Line Exhibition at RIBA North, Liverpool

This exhibition at RIBA North in Liverpool features the winning and commended entries from this year’s RIBAJ Eye Line Exhibition, the competition that celebrates the art of architectural image making. Run in partnership with visualisation specialists AVR London, the winning entries use various media and styles, with the exhibition demonstrating the variety and depth of the architectural drawing. Hack the Root: Liverpool Biennial 2018 at RIBA North

RIBA North and Liverpool Biennial have commissioned Mae-ling Lokko to develop a project using Grow-It-Yourself workshops to produce an architectural structure from agrowaste-fed mycelium (mushrooms). The structure which shifts along its length from ‘Root to Rhizome’ – from mass produced biomaterial to locally produced biobricks - will be grown, nurtured and installed by students, school children and community groups from Liverpool. The mushroom grow chambers will be in our City Gallery from the end of June where visitors will be able to see the modules growing. The fully-grown material will be dried forming solid modular biobricks which will form the facade structure of 'Hack the Root' at RIBA North. HEROES & HELMETS FOR HOPE

For the 9th year, City and County Firefighters join forces for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation in this annual event that raises funds to grant wishes for children in Kern County battling critical illnesses. A “drive-thru” deep pit sandwich lunch for $7.00 will be offered from 11:00am-1:30pm. Additional donation locations will be at the following intersections: At Olive and Knudsen Drives, firefighters from the Bakersfield Fire Department At Stockdale Hwy & Gosford Road, firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department Both fire departments have been key partners in the event since its inception in 2010, Since then, the event has raised over $525,000 for Make-A-Wish. Every dollar raised has gone directly to granting wishes to critically-ill children in Kern County.
