What is an End-of-Life Doula?

Doulagivers® of New England brings training and education to local communities throughout New England

HARTFORD, CT, UNITED STATES, June 22, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Stirred by her experience as a hospice and oncology nurse, Suzanne B. O'Brien RN created Doulagivers®, a worldwide training organization, which trains individuals who what to learn the needed skills to assist loved ones, friends, and community members at the end of life. “Although we are all touched by death throughout our lifetime it still remains one of our greatest fears. How do we address that fear? Through education and planning” – Dawn Whelan

To help change that, Doulagivers of New England will be offering Level I End of Life Doula Family Caregiver Training. This FREE one-day workshop will teach everything a caregiver will need to know on how to care for their loved ones. The workshop covers what to do from the time someone gets a terminal diagnosis all the way through to when someone dies. They will also be hosting Death Café events within communities and via online webinars.
Doulagivers' main goal is to educate and empower family caregivers and community volunteers to have the skills to care for their own at the end of life. This invaluable education and awareness can help ensure that everyone everywhere can have a peaceful end of life experience.

Presentations are available for “What is an End-of-Life Doula?” to raise community awareness regarding the End-of-life Doula movement. An End of Life Doula, or Death Doula, is a non-medical professional that provides holistic support for the dying and their loved ones before, during, and after death. Trained in the various end of life stages, a Doula is able to assist the family with understanding the natural processes while providing comfort and support. A Doula differs from a hospice nurse in that the nurse is a medical professional that is fully trained in end of life care. Together they provide the complete array of services to allow a person to have a positive passing.

The next live End of Life Doula Training will be July 14th 2018, 2-6 PM, at Chiropractic Family Health Center of South Windsor 869 Sullivan Ave # 9, South Windsor, CT 06074.
