Jostens Celebrates Earth Month 2018 by Announcing Expanded Commitment to Sustainable Graduation Experiences

Company’s “Responsible Regalia” Effort Includes Products, Programs, and Creative Partnership with Destination Imagination

MINNEAPOLIS, April 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jostens, the leading provider of publications, jewelry and graduation products serving the K-12 and college market, has announced a new initiative featuring environmentally-friendly graduation products, services, and partnerships in college regalia.

Jostens “Responsible Regalia” provides partnering colleges and its graduates multiple ways to create an eco-friendly graduation experience, including its exclusive bio-degradable line of ElementsTM graduation gowns, expanded rental regalia program featuring ReviveTM gowns made from recycled materials, and new ways for students to keep and display their gowns after graduation.  The effort also features an innovative gown-return program in which the company will redirect returned gowns to schools or other non-profit organizations in need.

Jostens is also partnering with Destination Imagination, a leading non-profit organization cultivating creativity and leadership in youth, to develop alternative ideas and applications for used graduation gowns.   Some of those ideas will be on display at Destination Imagination’s Global Finals May 23 – 26 in Knoxville, TN.

“Jostens has been the industry leader in offering sustainable graduation products for years, with nearly a half million rented, recycled, or bio-degradable gowns used to celebrate college graduations last year” said Chris Poitras, chief operating officer and vice president, Jostens College Division.  “But with our Responsible Regalia initiative, we’re hoping to encourage even more awareness and participation in earth-friendly graduation experiences.  The breadth of this program, including our partnership with Destination Imagination, reflects our commitment to being the most innovative, earth-friendly graduation partner on the planet.”

“We’re thrilled to tap into the creativity of youth to develop new ideas and applications for graduation regalia,” said Wendy Niemann, associate director of development at Destination Imagination.  “If a graduate doesn’t want to keep or recycle their gown, it could someday end up as an art smock, a hand bag, or who knows what else our students will dream up!”
